Autumn Delight

I recently had a weekend off. So we decided to go to Daylesford for the weekend in early April.

On the Saturday we went out to Lavandula Swiss Italian Lavender Farm. As we pulled in over the bridge I saw an awesome little bridge and a beautiful stone building. It looked pretty and I took a couple of snaps, but it didn't prepare me for what we found once we went in through the entry. Entry is $5 per adult and $1 per child. But it is a small price for what you are about to see...

WOW!!! A photographers paradise!!

There is something for everyone here. Beautiful old buildings with natural looking authentic displays of a bygone era. Everything was displayed in a picture perfect way. Vines changing its Autumn colour frame the buildings beautifully.

Then there is the gardens. They are meticulously laid out and styled. You can understand why it is a popular wedding destination. So many opportunities for awesome photos. There is 100 acres of gardens with lavender fields, olive groves, roses and beautiful trees turning colour with the Autumn season. Beautiful avenues of trees. Arches and arbours. Natural 'English wood' settings with old carts and antiquities. Just about everywhere you look there is a photo opportunity. When we were there the lavender is at the end of their cycle and starting to dry and be harvested. But the changing colour of the trees made up for it. The lavender would look gorgeous when it is at its peak.

And then there are the animals. Geese, Chooks, Guinea Fowl, Emus and Mirella the Highland cow. She is very placid and likes her photo taken.

There is a cafe where you can have a break and there is seating inside and out under the trees. I can highly recommend the lavender scones!

When it is time to go, you exit through the gift shop of beautifully displayed goods.

We were there for a few hours because there was heaps to see. A beautiful spot which is well worth a visit. But note it is closed June, July and August.
